In keeping Matthew Shepard’s dream of replacing the hate in the world with understanding, compassion, and acceptance, Pisces Moon coordinated events around its production of The Laramie Project.

Pisces Moon hosted
students from local high school Gay-Straight Alliances (GSA) and other Queer Youth Organizations at its Sunday matinee performances on October 5, 12 and 19. Representatives of Triangle Speakers led post-performance talkbacks with the audience  to discuss issues related to the play. Triangle speakers is an organization that was created with the objective of providing information to eliminate fear, prejudice, and hatred against LGBT people so that a healthy environment -- particularly for young people -- exists for all members of our community in Santa Cruz County.

Thanks to a grant from the Diversity Partnership Fund at the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County, there were 150 free tickets available
for these performances. The tickets were used by high school students, many of whom were part of GSAs and drama clubs, as well as students with Rainbow Theatre and The Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Network (GLBTN) at University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) and other queer youth organizations. The program was coordinated by Chelsea Johnson-Long.
